Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Tensio LLC ("Tensio", "we", "us") builds a wearable device and companion mobile app for strength training. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It covers both the Tensio website and the Tensio mobile app.
Information You Give Us
- Account information. Email address and password when you create an account. Optionally a display name and profile photo.
- Training information. Exercises, programs, sets, reps, weights, notes, and any other details you enter or edit in the app.
- Marketing signups. Email address, and name if you provide one, when you join our mailing list.
Information Collected by the Tensio Bands
The Tensio bands contain motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope). While you train, they record motion data and send it to the app over Bluetooth. The app processes this into measurements such as repetitions, timing, tempo, time under tension, and left/right differences.
Motion and workout data is stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our servers so it is available across devices and is not lost if you lose your phone. We use this data to operate the product, to improve our measurement algorithms, and to develop future coaching features. When used for algorithm and product development, data is handled in aggregated or de-identified form.
The bands do not record audio, images, or location.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Tensio reads data you explicitly authorize, which may include sleep, recovery, activity, and nutrition information. We use it only to show you how these factors relate to your training within the app.
Specifically:
- We read from Apple Health. We never write data to Apple Health.
- We never use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or any similar purpose.
- We never sell Apple Health data, and we never share it with third parties for their own purposes, including data brokers.
- Connecting Apple Health is entirely optional. You can revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app under Sharing, and the rest of Tensio will continue to work.
Information Collected Automatically
We collect basic technical information needed to run and support the product, such as app version, device model, operating system version, and error and crash diagnostics.
We also use product analytics to understand which features are used and where the app is not working well. This is limited to usage and device information. We do not include Apple Health data in analytics.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the app: recording sets, programs, and history
- To sync your data across your devices and back it up
- To improve measurement accuracy and develop new features
- To respond to support requests
- To send product updates, if you have opted in
We do not sell your personal information.
Service Providers
We use third-party providers to operate Tensio, including cloud hosting and database services for account and workout data, product analytics and crash reporting, and an email platform for our mailing list. These providers may process your information only to perform services on our behalf, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Data Retention
We keep your account and training data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data from our production systems, and from backups on their normal rotation. De-identified and aggregated data that can no longer be linked to you may be retained for algorithm and product development.
Your Choices and Rights
- Access and deletion. Email us to request a copy of your data or deletion of your account.
- Apple Health. Revoke access at any time in the iOS Health app.
- Bluetooth. Revoke access in iOS Settings. The bands will no longer connect.
- Email. Unsubscribe using the link in any message.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing. Contact us and we will honor them.
Data Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that restrict each account to its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Tensio is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Beta Testing
If you are using a pre-release or beta version of Tensio, features may change and data recorded during testing may be reset as the product develops. We will tell you before anything is deleted where we reasonably can.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
