You've heard what Tensio tracks, but I wanted to give a rundown of what it's actually going to be like to use it in the gym.

Before the set:

You press the button. The bands vibrate twice, which is your signal that the set has started. From here, you have your start period to get into position. The start period is the phase between when the bands get pressed and when they actually start tracking. This allows you to get yourself into position before the bands begin motion tracking for reps.

The start period is fully adjustable on a per-exercise basis and gets saved after you set it, so you only have to do it once. Adjusting it for each exercise is important - tricep pushdowns might only need 2 seconds for you to get into start position, while squats might need 8 so you can walk the bar out and get set. We'll have suggested presets for every exercise, but you can dial it in to whatever works for you. Once the start period is over, the bands vibrate once - Go.

During the set:

Once you get the go signal, you lift. That's it. No counting, no thinking about tracking, no phone. The bands are recording everything - every rep, the eccentric, the pause, the concentric, partial reps, all of it. You just focus on the lift.

After the set:

You finish your last rep, rerack, and press the button. The bands give a long buzz - set over.

From there, a stop discard period kicks in. This is a short window that filters out any extra motion, such as reracking the weight, stepping out of position, or putting the dumbbells down. It prevents those movements from being counted as reps and removes that time from your TUT calculation so your data stays clean. Like the start period, the stop discard is fully adjustable per exercise and gets saved. Quick rerack on curls? Keep it short. Walking a squat back into the rack? Give it more time.

Everything is fully customizable to your preferences.

Between sets:

Rest tracking starts automatically after you stop. You can either preset a target rest time for each exercise - in which case the bands will buzz when you have 15 seconds left, as a heads up - or just let the bands track your rest without a target. Either way, Tensio logs how long you rested.

Over time, this data can be used to improve your workouts. Tensio will be able to show you what rest periods lead to your best performance on the following set. It will not be a generic recommendation - it's from your own data, your own results.

The full workout:

Here's where it all comes together. If you program your workout ahead of time in the app, the bands download your entire session. They take you through every exercise, every set - no phone needed. When you're done, the bands upload your workout data the next time you connect to the app.

You can program your full split, and the bands will automatically advance to the next day when you finish. Or you can program as you go - whatever your preference.

The entire design philosophy behind the bands is to be as easy to use as possible, while maximizing accuracy and the data tracked. The hardware stays out of your way so you can focus on the only thing that matters: the lift.
